Whats good people? Today Im trying to figure out what happened with good ol Gilbert Arenas. This man signed a contract with the wizards for 112 million dollars and before this season had been on and off the court, mostly off, with injuries for like the past 3 years. It seemed like he was getting back into the swing of things as far as his career was concerned, I mean hed played in all the games this season without any real problems from his past injury, and then he goes a pulls a gun in the locker room. Well ok, Im not going to say he pulled it but its against the rules to even have one in there apparently so why even chance having one there? I dont get it. The way I view this is that another successful black male celebrity is doing stupid shit with guns. I mean T.I. got a year for his gun charges, Lil Wayne is supposedly getting a yr or 2 for gun charges, and now Gilbert Arenas has been indefinitely suspended from playing basketball by NBA commissioner David Stern. As a result I find myself asking what the fascination is with guns and or the lifestyle where they are necessary for survival after black male celebrities become famous and successful? They gain endorsements, money, commercials, fame, women, and its like theyll do something stupid to either lose a lot of those things or at least put them on hold while they deal with the legal ramifications of their actions. I mean with the scrutiny that celebrities face around every corner its just not smart decision making. Im not going to try and get all philosophical cause I know everyone does shit where other people look and point to it like uhh, yeah that shit was dumb or unnecessary, but Ill just say that once you leave one way of living behind for a newer more positive way of living there are some behaviors you have to leave behind as well. Just my opinion on it, let me know yours.
